Flagpole hardware is not one size. Truck assemblies come in different diameters, halyard is rated by pole height, and retainer rings only suit the internal halyard system they were made for. Ordering the wrong part is easy to do online and the reason a lot of people give up and call us.
Tell us the pole height, roughly what the diameter is at the top, and whether the halyard runs inside or outside the shaft. From that we can identify what you need. If you are not sure, a photograph answers it faster than a description.

| Halyard rope | Rated by pole height. A wear part that should be replaced before it snaps, not after. |
| Snap hooks and covers | Covers are what stop the metal ting against an aluminum shaft. Cheap and worth having. |
| Cleat | Where the rope ties off. Height on the shaft matters for security as much as convenience. |
| Finials | Gold ball, eagle and other tops. Mostly cosmetic, but the fit still has to be right. |
| Retainer rings | Internal halyard poles only. They wear, and worn rings are a common noise complaint. |
| Counterweight and sleeve | Internal halyard systems. The weight is what keeps the cable taut inside the shaft. |

Questions about flagpole parts
Fit covers over the snap hooks. Bare metal snaps hitting an aluminum shaft is the noise almost everyone is describing, and covers solve it for very little money. Worth knowing before you spend on anything more drastic: switching to an internal halyard pole generally makes noise worse, not better.
Rope is a wear item. Sun and abrasion at the pulley degrade it steadily, and how fast depends on exposure. The practical answer is to replace it when it starts looking furry or discoloured, rather than waiting for it to part and drop the flag.
